The Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS), with support from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Norwegian Red Cross (NorCross), and Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), has donated relief items valued at ₦185,000,000 to 1,850 victims of the recent Maiduguri flood disaster.In response to the devastating floods that ravaged Maiduguri, affecting over 60% of the city and claiming numerous lives, the NRCS swung into action to provide succor to those affected. The flood, which destroyed public and private properties worth billions of Naira, left many families in dire need of assistance.
The relief items, distributed to 1,850 beneficiaries, include:Food items (rice, maize, and millet)Non-food items (blankets, mats, and hygiene kits)Shelter materials (tents, roofing sheets, and nails)Clothing and household essentials.

"The Nigerian Red Cross Society remains fully committed to alleviating the suffering of the most vulnerable members of our society. Our mandate is to alleviate human suffering wherever it may be found and this is exactly what we have done today.” said Mr. Benson Agbro, Director, Disaster Management, Nigerian Red Cross Society.
"We are grateful for the support of our international partners, International Committee of the Red Cross, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Norwegian Red Cross and Norwegian Refugee Council in helping us respond to this disaster . "The distribution of relief items was carried out in collaboration with the Borno State Government and other stakeholders.
"We will continue to work tirelessly to support those affected by this disaster and ensure that they receive the necessary assistance to rebuild their lives," added Mr. Benson Agbro, Director, Disaster Management, Nigerian Red Cross Society.

As the people of Maiduguri strive to get back on their feet, the Nigerian Red Cross Society urges the public to support its humanitarian efforts and donate to its flood relief fund.
